-1-
You're asking me why I loved you
And why I hid you in my heart
And you can't even guess?!
For years and years,
I've been drawing your image in my eyes, coloured with love
And adorned with the flowers of my affection. I've been searching for you
On a thousand paths,
perhaps your footprints
Are imprinted on them,
And perhaps they lead to your home.
Believe me...
I searched everywhere until I found you!
-2-
I found you,
A shining truth before me,
Like the stars in the sky.
And from the intensity of your radiance,
I became afraid of blindness.
And I became jealous of myself.
And how many times,
You crossed my mind.
I deprive my eyes of catching
A glimpse of cheeks,
Lips like madness,
And black hair carrying nights.
3-
If you could gather my tears,
You would have made a river.
And if you had time to read poetry
Poetry told how much I tasted oppression
And how many nights I stayed up for you
And my candles stayed up with me.
-4-
You were in my heart before you were
And you were the inspiration of my thoughts
You used to sleep among my poems
And on my pillow,
How many years you slept
And how many times
You danced on my sighs
To the sound of my heart
That was a sad orphan
The one who made the tears dry in my eyes
And made my life hate my life
And made my tongue declare my madness
-5-
And in the end, I found you:
A flute, music, and perfume
And a thousand pieces of poetry
I want the madness of time
To compose them...
I have no more life left
And for this reason,
O light of my eyes
If you want to pity me
Don’t ask me why I loved you?
